Geographic Distribution: M. anaxibia historically occurred in most of the motainous areas of southeastern Brazil (Brazilian Provinces of Espirito Santo, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Parana, Santa Catarina, & Rio Grande do Sul…….possibly
Rondonia) with localized populations in northern Argentina (Prov. Misiones)
Flight Times: December through April (peak months January & February) Status: Much of the natural range has been developed. While the species is somewhat tolerant of rural human activities, slash and burn deforestation coupled with rapid urban development and pollution has had a tremendous impact on remaining populations. |
